Travel Information

Obergurgl is a small village elevated at 1930 m and located at the end of the Ötztal Valley, close to the place where the famous “Ötzi” was found. Obergurgl is approximately 100 km away from Innsbruck and can be reached:

...by plane to Innsbruck:

Innsbruck airport has direct links with Vienna, Bern, Zurich, Rome, Frankfurt, Hannover, London, Amsterdam, Antwerpen, Rotterdam, Graz, and Linz, as well as connecting flights by all international airlines. Domestic airlines include AustrianWelcome Air, SkyEurope and EasyJet.
From the airport you may either take a taxi or use public transportation to the main railway station (bus F, every 30 minutes, about 15 minutes journey time. Please visit the bus company website for further details).
From Innsbruck main station (Hauptbahnhof) take a train to Ötztal railway station.
From Ötztal station take a bus to Obergurgl (single ride: ~ € 8). Get off the bus at the end stop. Walk along the main road in the direction leading further into the village. On the right hand side you will pass a church. Continue until you reach a fork in the road, go left and walk up the hill. The University Centre is a distinct cluster of three stone buildings, that can be seen as you walk up the hill. Before the University Centre to the right is Pension "Schönblick".
Important Note: The last bus leaves Ötztal station at 18:15, thereafter you will need to arrange alternative transportation. 

...by plane to Munich:

Either take a train to Innsbruck (oebb-Website) and follow the directions above, or
There is a shuttle service to Tirol that can bring you directly to Obergurgl. 

...by train:

Take a train to Ötztal railway station. It is a major stop for all international trains from Innsbruck to Bregenz or Switzerland. Innsbruck main railway station itself is connected to all European capitals via international trains.
From Ötztal station take a bus to Obergurgl (single ride: 8 EUR). (See above.)
Important Note: The last bus  from Ötztal station leaves at 18:15, thereafter you will need alternative transportation.

...by car:


From the west (Bregenz or Switzerland), travel towards Innsbruck on the motorway A12 (toll sticker required). Additionally, the Arlberg tunnel is a toll tunnel.
From all other directions: drive to Innsbruck. In Innsbruck take motorway A12 direction Bregenz (toll sticker required).
Exit the motorway at Ötztal and follow the signs to Obergurgl (street B186). For more information please use a route planner.
